Dear make.tv Producer,

this spring it’s not just the temperatures that will keep you smiling – the make.tv spring update has lots in store for you. We’d like to inform you about the most important improvements:

We attached great importance to the improvement of the Player: We’ve optimized the sound quality considerably, especially for stereo productions. What’s more, shows start faster than before, even with slower Internet connections. Also new is the Offline Chat-Function: You can now send your crew chat messages, even when they are offline. The message will be delivered as soon as the recipient goes online. A faster video transcoding in your make.tv libary allows you to produce more effectively. Additionally,the enlargement of our content delivery network increases the coverage of your live-show.

As announced, our account-system will also change. The following modifications will take effect from May 15th:
Included viewer minutes for Business Accounts increase from 20,000 to 30,000! Furthermore, advertisements will be placed in Free Accounts. Additionally, the maximum broadcasting and recording time will be limited. Free Account holders can broadcast for a maximum of 30 minutes per day.

Due to the high demand we extend the validity of our Special White Label Account Promotion until May 15th!

Screen grabber and Blue-Screen

Install our free Screen Grabber and create innovative presentations. See for yourself: in this example we used the Screen Grabber to combine a PowerPoint presentation with a speaker, who, using the Bluescreen effect, is inserted in front of the slide.

Variable bandwidth with Media Encoder

If you use the Adobe's free Media Encoder, you can adjust the bandwidth used by your cameras very finely. But which bandwidth do you need? Our team took a trip to the Cologne Zoo to find out and produced a short, live broadcast from the primate cage. Interesting for you:

NEW: Anonymous Chat

Just join the conversation: viewers no longer need to register with make.tv in advance before chatting with producers and other viewers during a broadcast. All a viewer has to do to participate is choose a chat name. Of course, anonymous chatters can be patched in to a broadcast via webcam.

NEW: The Show Trimmer

With this tool you can trim the beginning and end of recorded shows. Convenient: crew members are automatically informed 24 hours before a planned broadcast.

NEW: Secure Player

Especially for White Label Accounts: The Secure Embed Player Code. Using this new HTML code, you can embed your player 100% securely. An intelligent TAN system protects you from unauthorized access to your embed code.

NEW: Camera Replace Function

this function considerably reduces the time expenditure when preparing various scenes. Input sources can now be dragged directly to the red camera placeholder - this is then replaced by the new stream which automatically assumes the size of the previous source.

Business accounts: now available

As announced at the end of November, make.tv is expanding its offer with the latest update to two business accounts. The business and white label accounts offer you fantastic production possibilities with a storage capacity up to 100 GB. There will be no limitation on the number of viewers. Private account: FREE until February 15th, 2009!

Private accounts will remain free of charge until February 15th, 2009.
This account offers you many advantages over to the free test drive: up to 500 viewers can watch your show and you have a storage capacity of 5 GB.

For even more interactivity: the voting-module

With immediate effect you can involve your viewers in your live show much better! The innovative voting-module makes it possible: let your audience vote live on a topic of your choice. Integrating a viewer vote into your show is easy: by clicking on "add object", you can create a live viewer vote with up to four choices. You decide when the voting starts and ends by clicking "start/stop voting". Results of the vote can immediately be seen by viewers at the end of the poll.

We’ve also optimized the text-module for you: the possibility to insert umlauts and a softer type face provide considerably higher quality. Synchronicity of the split screen was improved as well, particularly in the archives.

With the latest update, make.tv prepares for a new level. In just a few weeks we'll make business accounts available that offer you fantastic production possibilities for your own live shows.

<b>The Rating System:</b> Effective immediately, every make.tv show can be rated with stars. Parallel to that, entire productions are automatically rated. A production's rating is calculated by the average rating of the previous ten shows – whereby the most recent show contributes more notably to the overall rating. This provides you with direct and significant feedback from your viewers. Feedback that doesn't require tedious analysis, it's viewable at a glance.

<b>make.tv Best Of:</b> By clicking on the new "Shows" area located on the top right of the page, make.tv presents you the Best Of. Here you'll find an overview of the top-rated shows, the most-viewed shows and all currently running live broadcasts. Additionally, new shows are announced in Explorer. <b>The Studio:</b> Good just isn't good enough for us. So we dedicated ourselves to the details and made a few minor modifications so your shows can be broadcast more easily and quickly. By the way, now you can produce your own trailers by recording shows without
broadcasting them live. You can embed the recordings as a trailer. It's also part of the update.
